Description
IBM Tivoli Directory Server provides a powerful Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) infrastructure that is the foundation for deploying indentity management applications and advanced software architectures like Web services. In this course, you will develop the skills you need to configure and administer IBM's LDAP Directory Server Version 6.0.
Audience
This course is designed for System Administrators and any IT staff involved with the IBM Directory Server product.
This course is designed for system or network administrators who are responsible for system administration of IBM Tivoli Directory Server.
The following skills are expected:
- Working knowledge of Windows 2000 basic administration.
- Working knowledge of general security concepts including digital certificates, secure socket layer (SSL), authentication and authorization."
Prerequisites
All Information Technology (IT) professionals and technical staff members involved with the IBM Directory Server 5.1 produc.
Objectives
This course enables you to build the necessary knowledge and skills to:
- Describe basic LDAP and directory concepts
- Describe the components of the IBM's LDAP Directory Server, how it is packaged for installation on AIX and NT, its hardware and software prerequisites
- Perform the installation and configuration of the IBM Directory Server on AIX and NT systems, verify that it has been correctly installed, and load a sample database
- Use GUI tools to customize the IBM Directory Server, administer it, and set up replication and referrals between two or more IBM Directory Servers
- Back up and restore the directory database
- Explain the purpose of the directory schema and its object classes and attributes
- Use a GUI tool to modify and extend the default directory schema packaged with the IBM Directory Server product
- View, edit, and delete directory entries using the Directory Management Tool
- Describe the access control model supported by the IBM Directory Server and use GUI tools to set up and enforce an access control policies for directory entries
- Configure the IBM Directory Server to use Secured Sockets Layer (SSL) for secure communications
- Perform basic tuning of the IBM Directory Server (this course does not go into details of DB/2 UDB administration and optimization, however you will be able to perform basic tasks to optimize the performance of directory's DB/2 database)
